Java Web Developer

An experienced Java Web developer required for one of the UK's leading independent insurance intermediaries!

The position is based in their Tolworth office situated on Hook Rise South just beside the A3. Staff parking is available on-site and they even have their own Gym! For all staff to use, free of charge.

You will be joining their existing IT Team, with their aim to bring all technology in house and deliver a self-served IT strategy within the business. – This means decisions will be down to you to approve and implement, you will help create the future of the business!

They are seeking a Java Web Developer to lead a new in-house Web design and development team. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and hosting Java web environments and have the drive to help push the business forward as part of the existing IT Team.

As a Java Web Developer, you will be responsible for designing, coding and modifying our websites, from layout to function, front end to back end. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. You will work with our in-house SEO/Marketing team to further optimise our websites with a goal to drive customer traffic through google to our sites and ultimately request quotes through our platform.

To be considered your will need 4+ years in Software Engineering, with a focus on Java web technologies, experience with hosting platforms, setup & installation of websites. (Amazon AWS) as well as expertise and hands on experience with web applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON and API's.

Also desired would be a strong understanding and experience with WordPress website administration, installation and plugins, functional knowledge or hands on experience with MySQL/MSSQL queries, creation and manipulation of databases, functional knowledge or hands on design experience with Web Services. (REST, SOAP, XML, XPath), version Control practices, web User Interface Design (UI) & Cross-browser compatibility, bootstrap or responsive web development and photo and publication editing skills, such as Photoshop, etc.

On offer is a salary of £38-47,000, depending on skills and experience. Office hours are Monday to Friday – 9.00am to 5.30pm. Laptop provided (Your choice of Windows or Mac). You will also be given support towards personal training and certification, in the form of structured courses and certification relating to your job role as part of a Personal Development Plan. Staff parking is also available.
