Commercial Underwriter - SME

We are currently working closely with a well-established independent MGA who are supported by a number of risk carriers including international insurers & Lloyds Syndicates.

 

They trade both traditionally and through digital distribution channels and maintain steady growth across all products. They value underwriting profit more highly than premium growth. 

 

This company genuinely values greatly their happy and friendly working environment and are seeking to make a valued addition to this team. The current team numbers 10, and true to form they want person number 11 to compliment the fantastic team and culture they already have in place.

 

They are looking to speak with experienced commercial underwriting specialists, who can demonstrate they can build and maintain broker relationships across the commercial insurance space.

 

Your role will focus on underwriting and servicing existing accounts generated by the brokers they deal with. You will use your sound knowledge and judgement to evaluate new & existing risks within a delegated authority environment.

You will bring with you a proactive approach to developing broker relationships and use your underwriting knowledge to develop and maintain existing relationships with brokers and insurers alike.

 

You will be able to display a solid track record in a similar role, with relationship development and underwriting as the 2 key aspects of the role. Strong knowledge, understanding of underwriting experience in, their core product offerings (Commercial Combined, Property Owners, Liability, Commercial Packages) is also essential to be considered.

 

You'll also be able to utilise your technical knowledge to handle claim queries if required.

 

You will also need to be based a commutable distance from their office in Haywards Heath.

 

In return, the salary on offer is £28-30k, depending on skills/experience (may be able to go higher for someone perfect!), plus bonus. They also offer 20 days holiday to start, plus bank holidays and also offer extra holiday days over the Christmas period. Please also note due to Covid there is flexibility with remote working currently.

 

Office hours are 8:30am to 4:45pm.
