Conveyancing Fee Earner - 2+ PQE
Conveyancing Fee Earner | Residential Property
Gloucester | £40,000 - £55,000
New-build transactions, leasehold complexities and shared ownership matters — if residential conveyancing is your area of expertise, this is an opportunity to put that knowledge to work within an established property team.
An established law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Conveyancing Fee Earner to manage a varied residential property caseload and contribute to the continued success of its conveyancing team.
This role would suit a conveyancer who enjoys taking ownership of files, building strong relationships with clients and referral partners, and handling transactions that require more than a straightforward sale or purchase. With opportunities to develop specialist knowledge, contribute to business growth and take responsibility for your own matters, this is a position for someone who wants to combine technical ability with a proactive, commercially minded approach.
The Role
You'll manage residential conveyancing transactions from initial instruction through to completion, maintaining clear communication with clients and professional contacts while ensuring files progress efficiently and meet the firm's standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Residential Conveyancing: Managing a mixed caseload of residential sales and purchases, including freehold and leasehold transactions.
Specialist Transactions: Handling new-build properties, Help to Buy matters and shared ownership transactions, with scope to work on more complex property matters.
Case Management: Taking responsibility for files throughout the transaction lifecycle, monitoring progress, managing deadlines and keeping documentation accurate and up to date.
Client Relationships: Advising clients throughout their transactions and maintaining responsive, professional communication.
Referral Partner Relationships: Liaising with introducers and other professional contacts to support existing relationships and encourage repeat instructions.
Business Development: Networking, identifying opportunities to generate new work and contributing to the continued growth of the conveyancing team.
Financial Performance: Working towards monthly and year-end fee targets while maintaining high standards of client service.
Compliance & Administration: Keeping files organised, maintaining accurate records and working in accordance with the firm's procedures and compliance requirements.
Team Collaboration: Attending team meetings, sharing information and contributing to the effective coordination of the department.
The Opportunity
Residential conveyancing offers plenty of scope to develop a specialist skill set, particularly for lawyers who enjoy working with different property types and navigating the additional considerations that can arise during a transaction.
This role provides the opportunity to build on your existing experience across mainstream residential sales and purchases while developing further expertise in areas such as new-build properties, shared ownership and leasehold matters.
You'll also have the opportunity to develop your professional network and contribute directly to the team's business development. For a conveyancer who enjoys building relationships as well as managing files, this offers a chance to combine technical work with a more commercially engaged role.
Whether your strengths lie in managing a busy caseload, handling more involved transactions or developing relationships with referral partners, the position offers scope to apply those skills within an established conveyancing practice.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with experienced conveyancers who are confident managing their own files and understand the importance of combining efficient case progression with excellent client care.
You'll ideally have:
Experience: At least two years' PQE or equivalent practical experience in residential conveyancing.
Technical Knowledge: Experience handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, alongside a good understanding of the residential conveyancing process.
Specialist Experience: Familiarity with new-build and Help to Buy transactions. Experience in shared ownership, lease extensions, deeds of variation, equity release or small development set-ups would be advantageous.
Caseload Management: The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and progress matters independently.
Client Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain processes clearly and manage expectations.
Business Development: An interest in networking, developing referral relationships and contributing to new business generation.
Commercial Awareness: The ability to work towards fee targets while maintaining quality and compliance.
Organisation: Strong administrative skills, attention to detail and confidence using multiple systems to manage information and files.
Teamwork: A proactive approach, the ability to accept responsibility and the confidence to work independently while supporting colleagues.
Salary & Benefits
The salary and wider benefits package have not been specified and will need to be confirmed with the firm. Remuneration is likely to reflect the successful candidate's experience and suitability for the role.
