Litigation Solicitor - 2+ PQE
Litigation Solicitor
Gloucester | £35,000 - £50,000
From property disputes and contentious probate to contract and shareholder disputes, this is an opportunity to build your litigation practice across a broad range of contentious work while taking real ownership of your cases.
An established law firm in Gloucester is looking to strengthen its growing Litigation team with an ambitious, commercially minded Solicitor who wants to develop their expertise, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued success of the department.
You'll manage your own caseload from initial instruction through to conclusion, advising clients on a varied range of disputes while working alongside experienced colleagues on more complex matters. With an emphasis on professional development, client relationships and business development, this role offers an opportunity to establish yourself within a growing litigation practice.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for a varied caseload of contentious matters, developing appropriate strategies, advising clients on their options and progressing disputes towards effective outcomes.
The work spans several areas of litigation, offering the opportunity to broaden your experience while developing particular strengths in the areas that interest you most.
Your responsibilities will include:
Property Litigation: Advising on residential and commercial landlord and tenant disputes, alongside other contentious property matters.
Contentious Probate: Handling disputes relating to estates, inheritance and the administration of deceased persons' affairs.
Contract Disputes: Advising clients on contractual disagreements, assessing the merits of claims and pursuing appropriate routes to resolution.
TOLATA Claims: Managing disputes concerning the ownership of property, beneficial interests and claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.
Company & Shareholder Disputes: Advising on contentious business matters, including disputes between shareholders and issues affecting company ownership or management.
Employment Disputes: Supporting clients with employment-related contentious matters where these align with your experience.
Case Management: Managing matters from instruction through to conclusion, preparing legal documentation, monitoring deadlines and keeping clients informed.
Client Relationships: Building trusted relationships through clear, commercially focused advice and a responsive approach to client service.
Business Development: Developing professional connections, identifying opportunities to generate new work and contributing to the growth of the litigation team.
The Opportunity
For a solicitor with at least two years' PQE, this role offers the chance to develop a broad litigation practice while taking responsibility for your own cases and client relationships.
The range of contentious work means you'll have exposure to different types of disputes, from property and inheritance matters to contractual and corporate disagreements. This variety can help strengthen your technical ability, commercial judgement and confidence in advising clients through challenging situations.
You'll also work alongside experienced colleagues, providing opportunities to collaborate on complex matters and continue developing your approach to litigation strategy and dispute resolution.
Beyond fee earning, the firm is looking for someone who wants to contribute to the department's growth. If you enjoy building relationships, developing your professional network and playing an active role in generating work, you'll have the opportunity to make that part of your practice.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with Litigation Solicitors who combine strong legal skills with a practical, commercially aware approach to resolving disputes.
You'll ideally have:
Experience: At least two years' PQE in litigation or dispute resolution.
Qualifications: Qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
Technical Ability: Experience managing contentious matters and advising clients on litigation strategy.
Relevant Expertise: Experience in one or more of property litigation, landlord and tenant disputes, contentious probate, contract disputes, TOLATA claims or company and shareholder disputes.
Case Management: The ability to manage your own caseload, prioritise deadlines and progress matters independently.
Client Service: Strong communication skills and the confidence to explain complex legal issues clearly.
Commercial Awareness: A practical approach to assessing risk, costs, settlement options and clients' wider objectives.
Business Development: An interest in developing client relationships, networking and contributing to the growth of the practice.
Approach: A proactive, ambitious and collaborative mindset, with a genuine commitment to professional development.
Employment litigation experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience in every listed area is not expected; a strong background in relevant contentious work is what matters.
Salary & Benefits
The salary and benefits package have not been specified and will need to be confirmed with the firm. Remuneration is expected to reflect the successful candidate's experience and suitability for the role.
