Southwell | £45,000 - £65,000

Private client law is built on trust. From helping someone plan for the future to guiding families through the administration of an estate, the advice you provide can make a lasting difference when it matters most.

An established law firm is looking to welcome an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive to its team in Southwell. This is an opportunity for a lawyer with a strong grounding in private client work to manage a varied caseload, build meaningful relationships with clients and provide clear, considered advice across all stages of life and estate planning.

With a broad range of work, the opportunity to take responsibility for your own matters and a friendly working environment in the heart of historic Southwell, this role could suit someone looking to develop their career within an established practice.

The Role

You'll manage a varied private client caseload, advising individuals and families on wills, estate planning and the administration of estates. You'll guide clients through often sensitive matters with professionalism, care and technical confidence, ensuring their affairs are handled efficiently and their wishes properly understood.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Wills & Estate Planning: Drafting wills and advising clients on how best to structure their affairs to reflect their wishes and circumstances.

  • Lasting Powers of Attorney: Advising on and preparing LPAs, helping clients plan for the possibility that they may need support managing their affairs in the future.

  • Probate & Estate Administration: Managing probate applications and estate administration from initial instruction through to completion.

  • Inheritance Tax: Advising on inheritance tax considerations and relevant estate planning options.

  • Trusts: Advising on trust-related matters, including their administration and implications for clients and beneficiaries.

  • Complex Estates: Handling more involved estate administrations, coordinating the necessary legal and administrative work and resolving issues as they arise.

  • Client Relationships: Building trusted relationships with individuals and families, providing clear explanations and maintaining communication throughout the process.

  • Matter Management: Taking ownership of your caseload, managing deadlines and ensuring matters are handled accurately and efficiently.

The Opportunity

Private client work requires a combination of technical knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and discretion. This role offers the opportunity to bring those skills together within a long-established legal practice.

You'll work across a broad range of private client matters, allowing you to apply your existing expertise while continuing to develop your knowledge of estate planning, tax considerations, trusts and complex administrations.

The position is based in Southwell, with the office situated in the town's historic centre. For someone who values a friendly professional environment and enjoys building lasting client relationships, this offers an appealing setting in which to continue their career.

Whether your strengths lie in estate planning, probate or more complex estate administration, your experience will be central to delivering the quality of service clients expect.
